Pastor Dean Herman was born and raised in Colton, California, before moving to Wise, VA, in the 6th grade. After high school, he played football for Clemson University and was part of the 1981 National Championship team. Following his graduation from Clemson, he and his high school sweetheart, Debbie, moved to Horry County, where he worked as a school teacher and football coach.
Feeling called to create a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of their background, Pastor Dean and Debbie planted 5 Point Church. Since its first service in 2004, countless lives have been transformed through salvation and baptism.
Pastor Dean and Debbie have been blessed with three children and four grandchildren.
